The District has set the dates and times for 4K students to pick up their MCPASD-issued device for the 2020-21 school year, while the schedule for elementary students has been adjusted, Director of Communications Perry Hibner said.
School supplies and iPads will be distributed at 4K sites between Sept. 1-4, Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and 4K MaryBeth Paulisse said. More information about distribution and pickup will be provided by individual 4K sites later this month, she added.
Students in kindergarten and first grade will receive an iPad, while students in grades 2-4 will receive a Chromebook. Students can use their own device although the District is encouraging families to pick up an MCPASD-issued device for each of their students as a backup, Director of Elementary Education Rainey Briggs said.
Here is the updated schedule for when devices and supplies can be picked up at the elementary school a child attends:
- Tuesday, Sept. 1: 7 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 2: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, the District will also provide each student with the school supplies they need to support their virtual learning experience. The details of these school supply lists are being determined by a group of K-4 teachers. School supply pick-up will take place on the same days and times as technology pick-up.
Elementary students and their families will also have the opportunity to meet their teacher virtually as part of Ready-Set-Go listening sessions in advance of instruction starting on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Here are the dates and times for those sessions:
- Wednesday, Sept. 2: 12:45 to 3:45 p.m.
- Thursday, Sept. 3: 3 to 6 p.m.
Teachers will be in touch with families with more information.
