Middleton High School DECA Team

Sixty-four DECA members recently competed at the District Career Development Conference at DeForest Area High School. The students performed role-plays that resemble actual scenarios they would encounter if they worked in business or marketing. Students also took an exam testing their knowledge of various standards.

“The students did great,” said Robert Hutchison, advisor. “To have 16 Series Champions and 15 Honorable Mentions shows that they spent time preparing.” Sophomore Linora Jonuzi took 2nd place in her event. “When I won second place, I felt a wave of confidence and joy as my hard work had paid off,” said Jonuzi. “As a first-year DECA competitor, I have learned so much already and cannot wait to see what the future holds for me and our chapter!”

Twenty-nine students will now compete at the State Career Development Conference in Lake Geneva at the end of February. “This will be the largest group that I have ever had competing at State,” said Hutchison. “It just shows how talented this group is.
