Our district recently witnessed a momentous occasion as we celebrated the long-awaited grand opening of the Borden Athletic Complex. This remarkable project, which began as a visionary idea, has now become a reality with the completion of the first floor section.The event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches from Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue and a key figure who played a pivotal role in bringing this partnership to fruition.
Dr. Dana Monogue, the superintendent of our district, delivered opening remarks expressing heartfelt gratitude to the numerous individuals and organizations involved in making the Borden Athletic Complex a reality. Special recognition was given to Mike Borden and the Borden family, Laura Albrent, the alumni committee, the MCPASD Athletics department, the Middleton Education Foundation, the 2022-2023 Board of Education, the current Board of Education, esteemed donors, and our supportive community.

The significance of the Borden family's contribution cannot be overstated, as they generously donated an astonishing $6.7 million towards the project. During the grand opening, Mike Borden himself addressed the audience, sharing personal anecdotes about his upbringing and emphasizing how his father's legacy will forever live on in the stadium. A memorial garden, dedicated to his father, is expected to be completed in the spring of 2024, further cementing the family's enduring impact.
The grand opening event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including state representatives and senators, as well as representatives from the Middleton Veterans of Foreign Wars "Sonny Simon" Post 8216 and the Middleton-Cross Plains American Legion Post 245. Their attendance highlighted the widespread support and recognition of the immense value the Borden Athletic Complex brings to our district and students.
The festivities extended beyond the grand opening ceremony itself. During the homecoming football game, Mike Borden was honored during the first quarter, a fitting tribute to his extraordinary contributions. Additionally, the third quarter saw a special recognition for the 25 donors who played an instrumental role in supporting the stadium project, exemplifying the power of community involvement and philanthropy.
