District Leaders Enhance School Safety and Support as Part of the WI DOJ's Office of School Safety Critical Incident Response Team

The Wisconsin Department of Justice's Office of School Safety (OSS) is taking an important step in safeguarding school communities across the state by creating the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT). The CIRT provides regional support to all public, private, charter, and tribal schools in Wisconsin, offering crucial assistance in critical incidents such as acts of violence, natural disasters, suicide, community turmoil, intruders, and hate crimes.

Chris Mand, MCPASD Director of Student Services, and Brad Crandell, Assistant Athletic Director, and MHS Safety Coordinator are set to make valuable contributions as they serve a term with the OSS's newly formed CIRT. Their comprehensive training in Psychological First Aid and Skills for Psychological Recovery, along with qualifications from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) PREPaRE training, will equip them to respond quickly and provide the necessary resources to minimize psychological impact.

Mand and Crandell's dedication to enhancing the safety and well-being of school communities in Wisconsin reflects the OSS's strong commitment to ensuring that schools have the support they need to navigate any crisis. The OSS's efforts will ensure that student safety and well-being remain a top priority for schools across the state.
