Around 331 students from throughout the state gathered on Saturday, December 10th for the thirteenth annual Madison Area Model United Nations Conference (MADMUN), hosted this year at Monona Grove High School.

The annual event, established by Middleton High School in 2010, included students from almost 20 school Districts. 

Middleton students Henry Dickinson, Monroe Durand, Livia Machado, Shradha Godishala, Claudia VanBendegom, and Mason Bauer helped to plan and run this year's MADMUN conference. The theme of this year's conference was corruption. 

Student participants represented several different countries and positions in the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee, the World Health Organization, the

Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organizations, the Human Rights Council, the Economic and Financial Affairs Council, the Development Program, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the European Union, Miss Universe Pageant, and the U.S. Senate.

Conference delegates discussed various contemporary and historical issues, such as protecting the right to education in developing nations, worldwide pharmaceutical trade, inflation, the Ukraine humanitarian crisis, and many more.

Students also enjoyed hearing from keynote speaker Joe Parisi as he discussed his experiences working as the county executive, his efforts in environmental protection, and his hope for future generations to make change within their communities.

Middleton Model UN will travel to New York for the National High School Model United Nations
