The 2018 Referendum Construction projects are now complete!

Both the Early Learning Center/ Cardinal Academy and the South addition to the MCPASD High School Campus recently completed construction over the summer.

The 8-week construction project for the Early Learning Center/Cardinal Academy was completed in mid-august. Building renovations included a brand new playground, cubby lockers, restroom adaptations, resilient flooring, and other structural updates. Opposite entrances were also added to the building to provide each (group) with their own independent spaces. The facility was home to the former Clark Street Community School.

To celebrate, the Early Learning Center/ Cardinal Academy hosted their inaugural ribbon-cutting and open house event yesterday evening!

Families and community members joined together as they heard a few words from:

  • Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue
  • School Board President Gail Shepler
  • Early Learning Principal Brett Humphrey
  • Student Services Coordinator Jen Reynolds
  • Special Education Services Coordinator Becky Poehls

To make the event even more special, students from both the 4k program and the Cardinal Academy assisted with the formal ribbon cutting!

After the ceremony, guests could explore both the Early Learning/ Cardinal Academy classrooms and spaces. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet a few staff members and learn how the building has been adapted to be a great learning space for our students.

Fun fact:

The Middleton High School KEY club utilized funds provided by the Kiwanis Club to create a 'little library' for the Early Learning students. The books are free for any student to take home and will be replaced with other donated books over time.

We look forward to celebrating the completion of the South addition to Middleton High School as well at their ribbon-cutting event on October 6th! View more information about the event here.

Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District wants to thank the community for supporting our schools and allowing us to renovate our spaces to help students grow and succeed!
