Our district is thrilled to share that we have two Herb Kohl Foundation winners!

Congratulations to MHS Spec Ed teacher Emma Becher! 

  • Emma was selected as a 2022 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Teacher Fellow.

  • Emma works in the Special Education & Social Studies Department at Middleton High School. 

  • Teacher Fellowship recipients are educators who have been chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom.

  • 100 Wisconsin teachers were selected and will be awarded a $6,000 grant.

A round of applause for MHS student Lydia Hanson

  • Lydia was awarded the 2022 Herb Kohl Foundation Student Excellence Scholarship
  • The Foundation awards $10,000 scholarships to 100 Wisconsin high school graduates each year, and Lydia was one of them. She says receiving this scholarship will help her financial position, and she is very grateful for that. 

  • Recipients of this award have demonstrated excellence in the academic arena and high motivation to achieve. 

  • They have also displayed a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.

  • Lydia has a 4.0 cumulative GPA. 

    • over 400 volunteer hours

    • is the co-director of next Next Chapter Academic Tutoring Inc., a student lead nonprofit that provides free tutoring services for elementary students

    • A board member for MHS Relay for life

    • is a part of the national honor society, Key Club, ASL club, plays soccer for MHS, and so much more

    • Lydia plans to attend UW Madison School of Business and wants to double major in Finance and Marketing.
