Monthly Update with Monogue - Dec. 2021

December Monthly Update with Monogue

I hope you spent a relaxing thanksgiving break surrounded by family and friends. We are so thankful for our families, students and staff that make our district one of the best. We have great stories and information to tell you about in this monthly update with monogue, so let's get started!

Over this five day break, the Middleton High School building experienced a mechanical failure resulting in frozen and burst pipes along with water damage in the building. The damage was contained to the north end of the building. This area was immediately sectioned off so that drying and repairs could be completed. MHS students spent last week at home learning virtually.

We would like to give A HUGE thank you to our staff and team of contractors for jumping into action during the break and continuing to follow up on the repairs. Sudden accidents are never planned, but we are thankful our team is always willing to step in and help when needed.

For families interested in CHANGING their student's instructional model from online learning to in-person or vice versa, our model change form is now open. You have until December 12th at 11 pm to submit your request. If you are not requesting a change, no further action is needed, your child will remain in their current instructional model until the end of the school year.

We’re excited to announce that our district will begin using Peachjar to send digital flyers home to families via email. Sending flyers digitally will not only save our district time and money, but also ensures our families have access to all the valuable resources and programs our schools and community has to offer. Families will be receiving one email a week. The best part? If a parent has students in different schools, they will still receive one email with all their child's flyers.

MCPASD is now on Tik Tok! We are excited to use this platform to share all the fun we are having at our schools! Follow us at mcpasd underscore schools and check out our first video about our “super” custodial staff!

Our students never cease to amaze us with their creativity and academic success. Congratulations to Middleton High School Senior, Daphne Wu for earring her place as a Coca Cola scholarship finalist. Only 1,617 Semifinalists were chosen among 68,000+ applicants this year because of their outstanding leadership, academic achievements, and dedication to their community. We wish you the best of luck in the second round Daphne!

The Middleton High School DECA team recently competed in a mini-conference at UW-Whitewater! Eleven students earned a medal for their outstanding performance and sophomore, Varsha Gouraram was named Series Champion! Congratulations to the DECA team! You are off to a great start!

The Middleton High School Women’s Cross Country Team is unstoppable! They ran away with the state title for the second consecutive cross country season! Lauren Pansegrau led the way to an individual title both years, and The team has the fastest combined times in Wisconsin History! To top it all off they also placed second in the Nike Cross Country Regionals, which was another first in Middleton History! Congratulations to all! We appreciate your hard work and dedication to your team and your school!

Three of our elementary schools are about to get more….. COLORFUL.

Sunset Ridge, Park, and Elm Lawn Elementary will be getting murals painted at their buildings that focus on diversity and inclusion. Our district partnered with Dane Arts Mural Arts (DAMA) and the Middleton Education Foundation to make these murals come to life. Students from all three schools are immersed in the project by helping paint all the murals.

So many MCPASD Families have shared their gratitude to us for hosting vaccination clinics for our students ages 5-11. When our district learned about the possible approval for vaccinations in this age group, our health services and operations team jumped at the opportunity to provide them to our families. In total 1,400 students will be vaccinated through our clinics.

This has been another Monthly Update With Monogue. We hope you find time to relax and enjoy time with loved ones this holiday season. See you next time!
